Baptism is the immersion of the body into water representing and identifying with the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 3:13-17). Who is baptism for? Baptism is for all who have repented of sin and gladly receive the Word of God. Baptism is a symbol of spiritual burial and resurrection.
The believer is making a public statement and testimony through baptism that he/she is dead to the practice of sin. The old self has been crucified with Christ, and not serving sin anymore.
